Our senior management team  have been providing outdoor adventures in the UK and abroad for 19 years and still enjoy every single day!

During this time we have seen things change with the introduction of the adventure activities licence regime  and an increase in overall interest in 'safe' adventure activities.

We take our responsibilities very seriously and always exercise a 'higher' duty of care when working with you to ensure you can push your limits with the re-assurance of our professional instruction and support.

ACTIVITIES AWAY  are licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (No: L5779/R0765)  for the delivery of activities to unaccompanied  young people under the age of 18 years. This is a legal requirement and you should not  allow anyone below the age of 18 to travel with an unregistered  provider unless they are accommpanied by their parents on  the actual activity.

We are inspected every two years and a licence is only granted if our activity safety systems  meet the stringent requirements of the licensing service.

We  are also approved by the  British Canoe Union for the delivery of BCU awards on moderate waters.

We are a  recognized training centre for the Royal Yachting Association authorised to deliver level 1 and level 2 Powerboat courses and the PWC certificate.

Our licence  issued by the  Adventure Activities Licensing Service  enables us  to provide specified activities under the following headings -

Climbing - Trekking - Watersports

We are able to provide -

Kayaking (up to grade 3 water)  - Open Canoeing (up to grade 3 water)  - Improvised Rafting - Bell Boating - Hill Walking (summer conditions only)  - Mountaineering - Orienteering -  Rock Climbing (single pitch)  - Abseiling

We also provide the following activities that fall outside the scope of our licence  - mountain biking, archery, bush craft and team building in youth programmes

We  have a strong track record of delivering well thought out and positive outdoor experiences to a wide cross section of clients. We specilise in operating active brands that offer a wide selection of outdoor activities and adventure experiences to  members of the general public, school/youth groups and corporate customers.

All instruction staff  are trained by  the relevant national governing bodies for the sports they lead and have extensive experience of instructing outdoor activities.

All instruction staff are first aid and incident management trained.

All instruction staff are  CRB (enhanced) checked to ensure their suitability for working with young people.

All instruction  staff undertake an induction programme prior to working and operate to a comprehensive standard operating procedure that ensures consistant delivery of quality adventure experiences.

Often the person who answers the telephone is the person who will take you on your activity as all of our staff are outdoor people with an active interest in outdoor pursuits.
